Hi! Thanks for visiting the Junior Water Lane Theatre page. We are a thriving youth drama group based in Bishop’s Stortford, Herts, with members aged 10 -16 years. Each week, we meet in order to develop dramatic skills and build confidence in a social environment, but most importantly we are there to have fun! Typically, Junior Water Lane Theatre (JWLT) members get involved in acting through improvisation and script work, but the group is focused on all elements of theatre, so we consider directing, costume & make-up, props, sound &lighting and set design. The Juniors’ perform, on average, three shows a year. These usually include end of term showcases, a Juniors-only full length play, and participation in the annual Children’s Play, performed in conjunction with the Senior Water Lane Theatre Group. If you are interested in membership, or in any of our performances, feel free to contact us. We hope to see you soon! Amber |

History of JWLT The
Junior Water Lane Theatre Company was resurrected in May 2004 by Water
Lane Theatre Company member Gemma Price. Originally run by Shirley Mackrill in the mid- to late- 90s, the Junior section was founded in
order to teach drama and stagecraft to the younger element of Bishop’s
Stortford. Gemma ran the Junior Group with the same aim in mind,
incorporating improvisation, script work, devising, mime,
characterisation, prop work, make-up etc. into a weekly 1.5 hour
workshop. |
